Health Professions High School student Angie Vicente is featured reading her original poem “The Tree” in a video used by 916Ink to help raise funds during yesterday’s BIG Day of Giving.

916Ink is a nonprofit organization that seeks to transform kids into published authors to improve literacy, increase academic confidence and support healthy youth development.

Thirty Health Professions students, including Vicente, participate in 916Ink’s Creative Writing Club on campus. The young authors recently published their third edition of the school’s annual “Breath and Bones Anthology:  Write Your Heart Out.”

Vicente’s video helped 916Ink get more than $11,000 in donations.
