Fresh Producers encourage healthy eating, student entrepreneurs

e-Connections Post

The Sacramento nonprofit Fresh Producers is working with SCUSD to make fresh fruit and vegetables available in all neighborhoods through student entrepreneurial efforts.

By logging into the Fresh Producers’ SCUSD customized website (, those interested in supporting these efforts can purchase bags of produce for twice-monthly delivery to the Serna Center lobby.

A “mini-trust bag” is $5 and the “mega-trust bag” with more produce is $10.

Says Fresh Producers Founder and CEO Rabbi David Wechsler-Azen: “Not only will you get at least as much if not more fruits and vegetables than at the store, you can save a trip while simultaneously supporting students in the district. Double low-carb food, low carbohydrates and low carbon emissions.”

A percentage of all sales will be donated to the Kids First for SCUSD Foundation.

Fresh Producers is also delivering currently at Hiram Johnson, Luther Burbank and Peter Burnett and looking to open new delivery sites throughout the district to support wellness by improving health, wealth and skills for life.
