Fern Bacon students take center stage with new media studio

Lights! Camera! Action!
These are the words you will hear from the media students at Fern Bacon Middle School during their elective media class.
Thanks to the help of Doug Niva of the Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium, FBMS received a $30,000 grant, which is allowing students in Julie DelAgua’s media class to continue creating amazing media productions.
Niva delivered five complete camera kits for the students to use. These kits include video cameras with amazing audio. He spent the day showing media students how to use the equipment. “The camera kits help us with the weekly bulletin board for the Fern Bacon website,” says a student.
The rest of the equipment should be delivered and installed by the end of the year. The media students can’t wait until the other equipment is ready to be used. In addition to the Fern Bacon website and weekly bulletin, students are also creating documentaries, PSAs, “how to” videos, claymations, book trailers and commercials.
