Farewell reception for Cal Middle’s Vigil, Eder planned

A farewell reception to honor the administrators of California Middle School will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, at the Land Park campus,1600 Vallejo Drive.

Longtime Principal Elizabeth Vigil and Assistant Principal James Eder have accepted leadership positions at Rosemont High School. Vigil will serve as principal and Eder as an assistant principal beginning this summer.

Vigil has been in education for 25 years, nearly half of which has been at Cal Middle. She was Cal’s assistant principal for two years and has been principal for 10 years. During that time, she has overseen a significant growth in both the school’s test scores and its student population.

Eder has been Cal’s assistant principal for three years, after serving in several other positions in SCUSD.

Andrea Egan, principal of Phoebe Hearst Elementary School in East Sacramento, will take over as principal at Cal. Egan previously served as assistant principal at Sutter Middle School.

The reception is sponsored by Cal Middle PTSA.  Those who wish to make a donation toward a gift may write a check payable to Cal Middle PTSA and mail it to the school (1600 Vallejo Way, Sacramento, CA 95818).
