Erlewine sixth graders focus on fitness

Editor’s note: The following article was written by sixth graders at O.W. Erlewine Elementary School:

Our class has decided to set a physical fitness goal to challenge ourselves.  All students in our class are running, jogging, sprinting or walking for 15 minutes on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

We tally the number of laps each student runs each day and create a class total at the end of the week. Room 16’s goal is to run a greater total distance than the previous week.

This week our class ran 380 laps total, approximately 75.9 miles! This will prepare us for middle school Physical Education and improve our health overall.
