Einstein teacher selected to participate in Shakespeare program in London
Teacher Peggie Clapper of Albert Einstein Middle School is one of 12 educators selected to participate in a prestigious program for teachers at William Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, England.
Clapper’s studies in England will culminate with Einstein students performing on the stage at UC Davis’ Mondavi Center.
Led by Clapper, Einstein’s emphasis on Shakespeare has grown over the years from reading excerpts and visiting the Oregon Shakespeare Festival to a comprehensive curriculum that includes both reading and performing his plays before attending the field trip to Ashland.
Currently, Einstein students are working with the Sacramento Theatre Company to mount a full production of Shakespeare’s classic “The Comedy of Errors.”
With Clapper’s selection to the prestigious Globe Academy for Educators, all future productions and lessons will benefit from the deep knowledge she acquires while working 12-hour days with actors, directors and professors at the Globe Theatre in London.
