Early Head Start engages new parents with fun Fall Social
New parents and their infants and toddlers enjoyed a fun Fall Social last Friday that featured a puppet show, pumpkin patch, photo booth and activities designed to help children develop literacy and motor skills .
The event was organized by SCUSD’s Early Head Start Home-Based team.
Early Head Start Home-Based is a free program to income eligible families. Families are visited once a week for 90 minutes with the focus on parents as the child’s most important teacher. Parents also participate in twice monthly group socialization activities.
At the Fall Social, representatives of four community agencies spoke with parents about important issues such as dental health, safe sleep and nutritious eating. The event had a farmer’s market theme to emphasize adding vegetables and fruits to children’s diets.
