Deadline for SMUD Powering Futures Scholarship is June 28
SMUD has launched a new scholarship for local students. The Powering Futures Scholarship is a special program to award up to 21 local students up to $5,000 each for college.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a current high school senior or graduate; have earned a GED certificate; or currently be a post-secondary undergraduate student.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0, based on a 4.0 scale.
- Plan to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college/university in the US in the fall of 2016.
- Be a SMUD customer living in SMUD’s service area, or have a SMUD customer as a legal guardian.
Awards will be based on merit and financial need with a preference for students with a declared science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) major.
Some scholarships will also include a paid internship in 2017.
