Students from four SCUSD elementary schools — Bret Harte, Earl Warren, Ethel Phillips and Isador Cohen — received brand new bikes on Sunday during a daylong holiday event at the Golden 1 Center.

A total of 4,000 bicycles were distributed during the fifth annual Bike and Toy Giveaway coordinated by Destiny Community Center in Rocklin in partnership with the Sacramento Kings Foundation, Buzz Oates Charitable Foundation and Ramco.

The floor of the arena was covered in bicycles and almost all the lower level seats were filled with students, families and volunteers from the Sacramento area.

“This event was a monumental task that took countless individuals to make happen,” said Earl Warren Principal Cory Jones, who thanked Destiny volunteers and his own teachers and staff for helping distribute the bikes.
