College conference for parents

Parents: Are you interested in going to college with a direction towards a new career?

Please join Family and Community Engagement (FACE) staff at the first annual conference for SCUSD parents sponsored by Sacramento City College.

The CalWORKS to College conference is Thursday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sacramento City College. This event is free, but parents must register by today (Tuesday, October 16).

During the conference, parents will explore career paths in Allied Health, Technology or Behavioral and Social Sciences.College counselors, peer mentors and financial aid officers will be available to provide information and encouragement towards enrollment.

Participants will be treated to inspiring guest speakers, a campus tour and lunch with Sacramento City College representatives. During the day, they will receive direction towards a plan of study that can result in employment. While parents who participate in CalWORKS will receive information specific to their program, any parent is welcome to participate.
