Students and parents please note that two important college and career conferences are taking place in Sacramento in the next few weeks and the deadline to register for these conferences is coming up soon.

18th Annual Cesar Chavez Youth Leadership Conference

The 18th Annual Cesar Chavez Youth Leadership Conference (CCYLC) is on Saturday March 10, at the University of California, Davis. The conference has become one of the largest student conferences in California targeting students from underrepresented communities. Click here to download the event flyer.

The emphasis of the conference is on sharing information about college admission requirements, financial aid, mentorship, cultural events and career opportunities in education, community and public service, law enforcement, military service, health, legal, STEM careers (science, technology, engineering, math) and other professions. Transportation and lunch will be provided. 

On the day of the event the district will provide transportation pick-up at multiple school sites at 7:15 a.m. for students from multiple school sites, with the buses returning students to these school site locations at approximately 4:00 p.m. 

California Association of African-American Superintendents and Administrators Youth Summit

The Youth Leadership Summit is on Tuesday, March 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in downtown Sacramento. The Summit will provide students an opportunity to dialogue with educators and leaders throughout the state to understand how to become advocates and work together to impact public policy to ensure that all youth are given equitable treatment in school and the legal system. There is a $75 cost for the summit that will be paid for by the school district for the first 100 students who register. These sponsorships are on a first come, first served basis. Click here to register for this conference and apply for district sponsorship.
