Camellia Basic Elementary School celebrated the Year of the Horse with its sixth annual Lunar New Year parade on February 7.

The event opened with a professional lion dance performance from Eastern Ways, followed by a school-wide procession that highlighted students dressed in their native costumes, student lion dancers, pin wheelers, ribbon dancers, banners, lanterns, dragons, Sacramento Mounted Police and a New Year Queen.

Students also marched holding a variety of signs while others played musical instruments.

More than 200 parents, community members, former students and district personnel enjoyed the festivities.
