Caleb Greenwood applies for IB authorization
With a tooting of party horns and a toast of sparkling apple cider, members of the Caleb Greenwood Elementary School community shipped off a 200-page International Baccalaureate (IB) authorization application on Monday.
Submission of the application is one of the final steps in Caleb becoming an official IB school.
With Caleb Greenwood and Kit Carson, SCUSD’s is creating a kindergarten-through-12th grade IB track in East Sacramento, providing the community with a rigorous educational program designed to inspire children to become passionate learners.
IB “World Schools” and IB high school programs are challenging, project-based learning environments in which children are encouraged to become passionate learners fully connected to the rapidly changing world in which we live.
Research shows that students who graduate from IB programs are better prepared for college and careers and have the highest GPAs in four-year university freshmen classes.
IB has three programs: Primary Years (K-6), Middle Years (7-10) and the Diploma Program (11-12). Caleb Greenwood opened as a Primary Years Candidate Program and Kit Carson as a Middle Years Candidate Program in in September 2013. Kit Carson will expand to include a Diploma Candidate Program in 2015-16.
