Brannan, Sutterville Students Participate in State History Day

Students from Sam Brannan Middle School and Sutterville Elementary School participated in the National History Day California competition at the Riverside Convention Center over April 27-29.

The weekend culminated a year of learning on the theme of “Revolution, Reaction and Reform in History.” From Brannan, Nikki Yoshihara, Blake Kaiser-Lack, Yu Yin Zhou, Chris Wong and John Michael Tropel won best group performance for “Cover it Up: The Public’s Reaction to A Doll’s House.” Brannan’s Max Hamlin and Danny Eccles won in the team exhibit category for “The Disney Dream – Walt Disney’s Journey to an Evolution in Animation.” Abraham Fong won for “The Model T: A Revolution and Reform in Transportation and Lifestyle.” Kristin Wong, a Sutterville Elementary School fifth grader, presented an excellent two-dimensional exhibit on Japanese-American Internment. The project was inspired by her family’s time in internment camps.
