More than 100 seniors at American Legion High School participated in a Sacramento County-sponsored mock election on October 11.

As in a real election, students marked ballots inside voting booths set up by Debra Woods, Outreach Coordinator for Voter Registration and Elections, who oversaw the exercise in democracy.

In the weeks preceding the mock election, U.S.Government class students were engaged in lessons involving several current issues and the correlating propositions appearing on this year’s ballot.

Also, students in American Legion’s Associated Student Body conducted an on-campus voter registration drive. Twenty-three students were officially registered to vote this November 6. In addition, several students were offered positions as “Precinct Officers” during the upcoming election.
