Background

• New High School Site Advisory Committee
   

• On August 3, 2006 the Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education approved Resolution Number 2464 to establish a comprehensive high school (500-800 students) to open no later than September 2008.
   

• The new school will be located, if at all possible, within the previous Sacramento High School attendance area, but will definitely be located within 2 miles of the boundaries of that attendance area.
   

• The new school will offer a non-vocational, college preparatory curriculum that meets University of California “a-g” course requirements for admission.
   

• The new school will offer a non-vocational, college preparatory curriculum that meets University of California “a-g” course requirements for admission.
   

• The new school will have a relationship with the District’s closest comprehensive high school whereby all students in the new school will be allowed to participate in the extracurricular activities, including all interscholastic sports, of that comprehensive high school on an equal basis with the students of that comprehensive high school, to the extent permitted by California Interscholastic Federation rules.
   

• No decision has been made as to the location of the new school; the Board is asking for input and will consider the input at future Board meetings.
