Senate Bill 33, NELL SOTO, PARENT/TEACHER INVOLVEMENT GRANT PROGRAM

The purpose of the parent/teacher program is to strengthen communication between
schools and parents as a means of improving academic achievement through home
visits or monthly meetings. To date, the Nell Soto Parent Teacher Involvement Program
has been implemented in over 525 schools throughout the state.

The grant awards pay for teacher participation in the home visit program and for
training in conducting home visits/meetings. The funds may be be used to defray other
costs associated with implementation of the program. If you previously recieved a
grant through the AB 33 provision, you may apply for an SB 33 grant award if you
meet all program eligibility requirements.
