The mission of the Charles A. Jones Career and Education Center is to enrich the lives of adults by providing a learning environment for academic and career technical training, thereby empowering them to become employed, productive members of their communities.
The Charles A. Jones Career and Education Center is a public adult school operated by the Sacramento City Unified School District and is located on Lemon Hill 1/2 block west of Stockton Boulevard. The facility is a three building complex on seven acres. A Sacramento City Unified School District Children’s Center is located on the premises. Parking is available on the school grounds for all students and the center is served by Regional Transit. The school is accredited by the Council of Occupational Education (COE). A variety of classes are in session year-round with primary emphasis on job preparation classes.
The Charles A. Jones Center’s vocational classes include certificate programs in A+/CISCO (CCENT)/ Network + Preparation, Administrative Assistant, Court Reporter/Real-time Reporting/Court Reporting, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Optometric Assistant/Dispensing Optician, Pharmacy Technician, and Vocational Nurse.
Student support services are available including financial aid for those eligible, career counseling and planning, academic and career assessment, resume development and job announcements.
For adults who need to learn or brush up on core skills including reading, writing, language arts or math, the Charles A. Jones Career and Education Center offers classes in English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE) and High School Equivalency (HSE).
The ESL Programs offer multi-level classes for foreign born students to learn English for every day life in the United States. Students learn life skills, grammar, reading, pronunciation, listening and speaking.
