Ellen Cochrane
Board of Education Member, Area 2

Board Member 12/14 - 12/18

Ellen believes school issues are neighborhood issues, and that local schools contribute immeasurably to our quality of neighborhood life.

Educated in SCUSD, she attended Sacramento High School, Sutter Middle School and David Lubin Elementary, and is a Dragon, Miner and Dinosaur alumnus.

From a family of educators, Ellen retired after 20 years as a public middle school teacher. She worked in a high poverty neighborhood at a 100% free and reduced lunch, Title One school in Sacramento’s South Area.

Ellen is a neighborhood advocate and former neighborhood association president. She believes that neighborhoods should be safe, pedestrian friendly and have thriving local schools.

“I believe our system of free public education is a defender of Democracy itself—an important common thread that holds Americans together, and I will work hard to protect and improve it,” says Cochrane.

Board Member Cochrane would be honored to hear from you and encourages your participation in Sacramento City School District work.
