The mission of the Charles A. Jones Skills and Business Education Center is to enrich the lives of adults and youth by providing a learning environment for academic and vocational training thereby, empowering them to become contributing and economically independent members of their communities.

    The Charles A. Jones Skills and Business Education Center is a public adult school operated by the Sacramento City Unified School District. The Skills Center is located on Lemon Hill 1/2 block west of Stockton Boulevard. The new facility is a three building complex on seven acres. A Children’s Center is located on the premises. Free parking is available on the school grounds for all students and the center is served by Regional Transit. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
     A variety of classes are in session year-round with primary emphasis on job preparation classes.  Classes are offered during the day and evening.

     The Skills Center vocational classes include certificate programs in court reporter, customer service representative, accounting technician, administrative assistant, computer accountant, legal administrative assistant, real estate principles, medical office assistant, culinary arts, home technology integrator, radio frequency, auto body repairer, automobile mechanic, truck and bus driving,  heating and air conditioning installer/repairer, upholsterer, medical assistant, medical insurance billing and coding, pharmacy technician, optometric assistant, certified massage therapist, certified nursing assistant, certified home health aide, emergency medical technician, Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), workplace computer literacy operator/software applications and introduction to computers.

     Student support services are available including financial aid/Pell grants for those eligible, career counseling and planning, academic and career assessment, resume development and job announcements.

     For adults who need to learn or brush up on core skills including reading, writing, language arts or math, the Skills Center offers day and evening classes in ESL, ABE and GED.  More information and current class listing.
