The
greatest resource of any organization is its members. I commend each
of our 6,000 employees for making Sac City a high performing
organization committed to excellence and the success of every student
by name. Our District’s many accomplishments are a tribute to each
employee. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said “Success is to win the respect
of intelligent people and the affection of children.”
My heartfelt gratitude to each member of
our District family for helping us achieve our goals; win the respect
of others and most importantly for caring about the success of each
student. Our workforce, consisting of both classified and certificated
men and women are among the best and brightest in the region and too
often their excellent work may go unnoticed. For this reason, I would
like to dedicate this column to them.
In the last two editions of The
Connection, you have read stories describing the many ways in which
our employees go above and beyond as they search out the best
strategies to serve our children, families, and our community.
Our site employees take notice of
children with allergies when they forget that they aren’t supposed to
eat certain foods or spend a few extra minutes each day helping
students who might be struggling with an academic subject. Our
teachers visit parents in their homes to build positive relationships,
while our maintenance crews ensure our classrooms are heated in the
winter and cool in the summer.
Please join me in congratulating our
2006-2007 Classified Champions: Nirmala Chand, Christina Facio, Helena
Forrester, Simon Fortes, Jr., Anthony franceschi, Colleen gale, Karen
Jensen, Darin Lanz, Carol Lee, Marilyn Perry, Karen Redmond, Richard
Remund, Kae Safeong, Sandra Smith, Wayne Snyder, Nicholas Vargas,
Christine Villegas, Dorri Woolen, Jeff Yanez, Margie Yee, Linda Zanza
and Ramona Zetter.
I also wish to congratulate our
2006-2007 District Teachers of the Year, Daphne Cagle and Deborah
Meltvedt. These members of our Sac City family are reflective of the
outstanding employees serving the students and families in our
District. I extend personal congratulations to each.
All of our employees, though not
recognized individually, are champions. You each deserve our thanks
and our praise. Without your hard work, we would not continue to
realize improvement in our student’s academic achievement. Without
your commitment to continuous improvement, we would not see more
students passing the high school exit exam. Without your focus on the
mission, we could not provide a world-class educational system that
enables all students to excel in the new millennium.
So I personally thank each and every one
of you for your commitment to excellence. In my mind and in my heart,
you are all champions!
