Important message sent to parents and employees regarding the Swine Flu:
Spring, 2010
This is a message from the Sacramento City Unified School District about health care steps our schools are taking to prevent the spread of swine flu and how you can help us. As a reminder, it's not too late to vaccinate!
Sacramento County Public Health is offering more free opportunities for you to get your H1N1 flu vaccination at locations open regularly during the week. You can visit the Sacramento County Public Health website at: http://www.sacpublichealth.net/h1n1-clinic-schedule/.
Please know we are complying with all notification and sanitation guidelines as directed by our County Department of Public Health and the California Department of Education. Our Department of Health Services is taking the lead in this matter.
If you are a parent, you can help us by keeping your child home if he or she shows flu or cold symptoms such as a fever, cough, runny nose, or achiness. Children may also have stomach problems and diarrhea. Please call your child's doctor or clinic for additional medical advice.
If you are an employee, please stay home if you are also exhibiting signs of a flu and check in with your doctor or other health care provider.
Please follow good, common sense prevention tips:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after using it.
- Wash hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.
- Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
- If you get sick with the flu, please stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
If you have further questions, contact your primary health care physician. If you do not have a primary health care physician, we have posted a list of resources on our web site at www.scusd.edu, and principals will also have a list of clinics you may use. School staff will monitor children with cold or flu symptoms and may ask parents to take their child home and seek medical advice.
Thank you for your time and assistance |
