Purpose of the DELAC & Other Duties

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the DELAC shall be to:

1. Advise the Sacramento City Unified School District Superintendent and the governing board regarding their District Master Plan for Services for English Learners.
2. Conduct on-going review, of the district Master Plan and recommend modifications in the plan to reflect changing needs and priorities.
3. Have ongoing responsibility to review with district personnel the implementation of programs for English Learners and to monitor through staff reports provided by the staff the effectiveness of the programs.
4. Take other actions as required by the Education Code.

OTHER DUTIES:

1. Develop and deliver annual reports to the Superintendent and Board on the status of programs for English Learners and the functioning of ELAC and the DELAC.
2. Elect one or more representative to the other district advisory committees, e.g., DAC-Title I, Latino, African American, and Asian.
3. Receive annual reports detailing the status of compliance with state and federal requirements.
