Provide specialized training on the
Asset Development framework developed by the Search Institute, Bullying
prevention, identifying and appropriately intervening to help families
affected by domestic violence, and the implementation of a wide variety
of prevention programs, including Second Step and Connect with Kids.

As a part of the technical assistance
provided to sites, staff and volunteers from SCUSD can use BIG Online
at no cost to your site. BIG Online is an internet-based
resource which maintains current profiles of over 60,000 US foundations
and corporations. This easily-searchable database can help you find
information about a foundation’s geographic scope, assets and general
funding range, Board of Directors, contact information, application
requirements and deadlines, plus you can look at the types of projects
they have previously funded, all of which will help you craft a fundable
proposal. Training to use the database can be arranged by appointment.

Provides resources and technical
assistance for school and program sites as they recruit, screen, train
and retain volunteers. Parents and community members can access helpful
information at
www.scusd.edu/volunteer_office/index.htm. SCUSD staff can find
additional information on utilizing volunteers at their site at

The Volunteer Office also recruits CWEX
(Community Work Experience) program worker, who are volunteers available
to our schools free of charge through the Department of Human
Assistance.

Provides telephone
access to interpreters speaking any language spoken by district
families. The CHSSS Parent Support Services Department funds the
monthly fee for this service. Sites need only pay for the actual time
using the service. (Varies between $2.00 - $4.00 per minute in up to
250 languages.) School site principals will be assigned a school code
for access billing purposes. Training and more information is available.
