  1. Does SCUSD spend tens of millions on “consultants’ fees” that could be used to balance our budget?
  2. Is the district’s deficit caused by spending down reserves?
  3. Is the district proposing to cut counselors and librarians and raise class sizes?
  4. Is a $28 million deficit the “worst-case” 2012-13 budget scenario for SCUSD? Is it possible that the deficit will be less?
  5. Is SCUSD at risk of state takeover? What does that mean?
  6. Is it true that the Superintendent and the Cabinet received raises or holiday “bonuses” while teachers did not?
  7. If all California K-12 districts face the same problem of “flat funding” and the loss of one-time funds, why are surrounding districts proposing fewer cuts and smaller reductions than SCUSD?
  8. Can the deficit be closed with money from the California Lottery?
